Further Planning For Our Thriller.

Codes and Conventions:-  This is the key thing to enable a thriller to being very successful.

Our group intend to include these
elements to our thriller:
Deceptive mind games
Technical - Low key lighting
Various camera angles e.g. Point of view shots, Mid shots and close ups
Flashbacks
Special effect lighting
Symbolic - Black clothing to imply death & grief
Written/Audio - Music with tension

The Inspiration and basis to our opening sequence thriller is taken from the film Obsessed. The film was released in 2009 it is an American drama thriller. It stars Idris Elba (Derek Charles) , Beyonce Knowles (Sharon Charles) and Ali Larter (Lisa Sheridan) The story entails Lisa, an office temp worker who falls in love with her boss, Derek Charles and attempts to seduce him. Derek's wife, Sharon later learns of Lisa's obsessive behavior suspects an affair.

I thoroughly enjoyed the film and the deceptive mind games that came with it.
It gives the viewers an insight into what goes sort of twisted things go into a persons mind with obsessive behavior. The ending to the film kept me on the edge of my seat as a viewer, not suspecting that a homemaker and wife would go as far as murdering the person who was trying to take her husband from her.

The film was a remake to the film Fatal Attraction (1987)
An American thriller blended with horror, starring Michael Douglas, Glenn Close and Anne Archer. The film is based around a married man who has an affair every weekend by a woman who refuses to let it end resulting in emotional blackmail, which causes her to become an obsessed stalker.

Our group haven't yet watched this but we plan to within time as it might encourage more creative direction to our relationship/obsessive based thriller.

Narrative Theories:-
Narrative:-The way in which a story is told in both fictional and non- fictional media texts.
The Narrative theory that fits our groups opening sequence is Tzvetan Todorov because of our  idea to have our opening scene start in a state of equilibrium and for all the protagonists to be content with a surprise and fatal disruption from an outside force.
Narrative techniques that will be used:
Plot twists
Misleading characters
Flashbacks

Because our opening sequence can only be 2 minutes maximum as a group we have to limit the number of techniques that can be used.

- Our class receive our equipment on the  9th of  March so we plan to start filming straight away. My group will use time during school such as free periods as one of our locations is set in the sixth-form common room and we will use weekends to travel to our other two location which will be Wood Green Cemetery and a group members house. Our group hope that filming will take no longer than 3 weeks therefore we can spend a good period of time editing and adding special effects to the opening sequence.

ACTORS/ACTRESSES
Our group have not yet come up with names for the characters appearing in our short film however we are considering keeping the original names of the people being used, for now we address  the characters as A, B, C & D.
