For the last week or so our group have been focusing on our preliminary task.
Preliminary Task: You must film a character opening a door, coming into a room, sitting down opposite another character and exchanging a few links of dialogue.
In class we have been concentrating on our understanding and use of the following
terms:
Match On Action: You film them coming in from a certain angle then cut and film from a different angle. ( Needs to show continuity)
180 Degree Rule: Make sure you shoot from the same side.
Shot Reverse Shot: When your characters are involved in a dialogue, you need to film a close-up of character 1 saying a line, then cut to a shot of character 2's reaction, eg. In our preliminary task video close-up Tyler, Close-up Georgia, Close- up Tyler etc.
This is the video of myself and another group member (Georgia) doing our preliminary task in the sixth form block. As you can see we decide to have myself opening the door and coming into a corridor, sitting down opposite Georgia and exchanging a few lines of dialogue.
Towards the end of the clip you can see that working opposite a very close friend can make it difficult to concentrate.

This is one side of our story board for our preliminary task scanned onto the computer.
This is the other side of it.
I realize that the story board images are too small to see in detail. I am going to upload the actual images of the preliminary task below.
First shot: This is me walking through the door.
Second shot: Walking towards the chair.
Third shot: Grabbing the chair.
Fourth shot: Sitting on the chair opposite character 2.
Fifth shot: Characters 1 and 2 establishing each other.
Sixth shot: Close up of Character 1 opposite Character 2.
Seventh shot: Close up of character 2 opposite character 1.
Eighth Shot: Shot of character 1 exchanging dialogue and reaction of character 2.
